General Project Description

This project involves the remediation of damage and decay on existing staircases within the Valley Terrace two-story housing buildings on the University of California, Merced campus. The scope of work includes demolition, construction of approximately 8 new staircases, pouring new concrete landings, removal and reinstallation of existing stairs, and removal of rotted/decayed siding and plywood walls. Additionally, the project requires patching, stuccoing, and painting of the walls and landing areas. The selected general contractor will need to collaborate with the campus building official and UC Merced's Auxiliary Facility project management team and ensure all permits are completed by August 19, 2026, with work commencing in late May 2026.
