General Project Description

This project involves comprehensive weed and fuel mitigation handwork within and around the City of Weed in Siskiyou County, California. The primary objective is to protect habitable structures and reduce fire hazards by reducing fuel loading. The scope of work includes cutting all brush and dead trees (snags <20” DBH), cutting stumps to less than 4 inches from ground height, limbing conifer trees up to 8 ft, and piling existing and created ground fuels (<10” DBH). Piles must be no larger than 8 feet in diameter and 4 to 6 feet in height, located at least 10 feet from remaining trees, and covered with plastic sheeting. The project is funded by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's Wildfire Prevention Program. Contractor experience in forestry work is required.

Quantity: 34 Unit: AC Work Item: Limbing & Pruning, Specifications: Includes all equipment, manpower, mobilization, insurance, and bonding to complete work described in specifications (limb remaining conifer trees up to 8 ft at stem without damaging the bole of the tree).
