University of California San Diego is seeking bids from qualified and interested contractors for the following project titled, Shiley Eye Institute Low Vision Clinic - Bid Package 6.01 Framing/Drywall/Insulation, identified under Solicitation ID: 5728. Work is to be performed near Torrey Pines Center, 10280 N Torrey Pines Rd, La Jolla, CA 92037, USA in San Diego County.
General Project Description
This project involves the conversion of existing medical records and workroom areas within the Shiley Eye Institute Low Vision Clinic on the UC San Diego La Jolla Campus into a new Low Vision Clinic. The scope includes establishing an exam room, a display room, and an adjacent workroom (approximately 667 sf). The project also requires upgrades to meet current code and accessibility standards and includes necessary infrastructure improvements (HVAC, electrical, and plumbing). Bid Package 6.01 specifically covers the furnishing of all supervision, materials, labor, equipment, and lower-tier subcontracts required for wall and ceiling framing, drywall finishing, and insulation in an occupied clinical building.

- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Include coordination with DFH and Glass subcontractors and their submittals for door and window RO's and headers/jambs/sills.
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Properly seal all penetrations made by this trade, including escutcheons, caulking, link-seals, insulation, firestopping, grout/concrete, etc. Sealing method depends on what the penetration is through (sound wall, rated wall, floor, roof, etc.).
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Export and dispose of all excess spoils generated by this trade.
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Include own cutting/coring for any penetrations needed for that trade, regardless of penetration type (wall, slab, roof, exterior, etc.).
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Include utility scanning (and, if necessary, potholing) prior to cutting, coring, drilling or digging to ensure existing utilities are identified and avoided. Hand digging is required when within 5' of any live utility.
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Include all anchors/hangers/supports/seismic bracing needed for this trade's work, vertically and horizontally.
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Include any equipment needed to load or unload materials or execute each trade's work, including forklifts, scissors lifts, reach forks, boom lifts, etc.
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Include plastic barriers and/or containment pods for work done in occupied spaces.
- Quantity: - Unit: - Work Item: Include cleanup of dust and debris at the end of each shift. If area of work must return to operation after work shift ends, subcontractor must return area to normal (re-install ceiling tiles, etc.).
