General Project Description

This project involves the installation of a soil remediation system at UC San Diego Hillcrest Medical Center to reduce groundwater hydrocarbon levels, as specified by the Regional Water Quality Control Board. The system includes a dual-phase extraction (DPE) system with soil vapor extraction (SVE) and fluid (groundwater) treatment. Existing monitoring wells will be connected to an Owner-procured skid-mounted remediation system using mostly above-ground pipes. The project also entails redrilling one existing monitoring well. Work will involve urban site limitations, adjacency to occupied facilities, maintaining campus access/utility continuity, and managing dust, noise, vibration, vapor, and fire safety. Required contractor experience includes environmental remediation, DPE/SVE system installation, monitoring well drilling/redrilling, above and underground environmental piping, routed electrical service, excavation, trenching, fire prevention, and vegetation.
