General Project Description

This project involves upgrading the compact storage capacity in Powell Library's Room 30 (Storage and Book Processing Room) located in the basement. The scope includes selective demolition of existing shelves, lighting fixtures, sinks, plumbing fixtures, exterior curbs, and railings, along with landscape clearing for a new mechanical pad. New installations will include compact shelving and reinstallation of preserved shelves and lighting fixtures. Furthermore, the project encompasses the installation of a new exterior mechanical pad with a retaining wall and brick cap, concrete steps, a louvered door, an Air Handling Unit (AHU) with humidity control, modifications to fire alarm systems, and the installation of a new interior door with university card readers. Abatement of asbestos and lead-based paint, along with the transportation and disposal of hazardous materials, are also required.
