General Project Description

This project involves citywide fiber communications upgrades and includes furnishing and installing communications conduit, pull boxes, splice vaults, fiber optic cabling, and related equipment. It also entails site preparation, concrete repair and replacement at various city locations (including roadways and sidewalks), roadway surfacing, earthwork, traffic striping, and temporary traffic control measures. The work requires adherence to Caltrans, Greenbook, and San Diego Area Regional Standard Drawings, with a focus on comprehensive infrastructure improvements for fiber optic networks.

Specifications: Schedule 40 Type A extruded rigid PVC (UL 651) or high-density polyethylene Type IPS, SDR 9 (ASTM F2160) for horizontal directional drilling. Placed a minimum of 30" to maximum 60" below finished grade, with 2" sand layer and 12" slurry/clean natural sand cover.
Quantity: 570 Unit: LF Work Item: Install Metal Conduit. Specifications: Hot-dipped galvanized rigid steel (UL 6, ANSI C80.1, UL 514B fittings) (Caltrans Type 1 Metal Conduit) for Magnolia Ave San Diego River Bridge. Wrapped with two layers of 10 mil all-weather tape when in ground.
