General Project Description
This project involves at-grade crossing safety improvements on N. San Antonio Blvd in the City of Pomona, Los Angeles County, specifically crossing the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) Los Angeles/Alhambra Subdivisions (MP 32.80/MP 515.20). The scope includes roadway and general improvements for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, such as construction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, pedestrian crossing features (ramps, stairs, railing, gates), roadway structural section reprofiling, hardscaping, miscellaneous utility protection/relocation, storm drain modifications, relocation of signs, new signing and striping, traffic signal modifications, and installation of vehicular and pedestrian railroad safety equipment. Temporary work will encompass providing traffic control features and storm water quality Best Management Practices (BMPs). The contractor will be responsible for obtaining necessary permits, coordinating extensively with Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) for work efforts and right-of-entry, and adhering to Roadway Worker Protection training certifications. The project sequencing and phasing are crucial due to high traffic volume and active rail operations, requiring compliance with environmental mitigation measures.
