General Project Description

The City of American Canyon is soliciting proposals for design and regulatory permitting services for the American Canyon Wetland Restoration and Public Access Project. This project involves completing technical studies to document baseline conditions, preparing 30% and 60% design documents for restoration and public access, preparing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documentation, drafting permit applications, and performing community and Tribal engagement. The design will propose features to restore full tidal exchange, restore 60 acres of shoreline habitat, raise 1.2 miles of the Bay Trail, enhance 18 or more acres of transitional ecotone habitat, build a kayak launch, and create a half mile of new trails. Key outcomes include replacing undersized culverts for improved fish passage and habitat, increasing Bay Trail resilience to sea level rise, re-establishing tidal marsh and ecotone habitat at 205 Wetlands Edge, and enhancing transitional ecotone habitat with native vegetation.
