General Project Description

This project involves the replacement of existing water and sewer mains along Lucky Street in Oceanside, California. The scope includes removing and replacing approximately 830 linear feet of 6-inch VCP sewer with new 8-inch PVC sewer, and approximately 915 linear feet of water and sewer line replacement (615 LF sewer in the northern portion and 915 LF water and sewer in the southern portion), extending 50 feet beyond the intersection with California Street. Key work items include mobilization, traffic control, pre-construction documentation, water pollution control (Stormwater BMPs), trench safety and shoring, construction staking, surveying, potholing, striping, pavement markings, signage, full-width roadway resurfacing (1-1/2-inch grind and overlay), SDG&E pole bracing, site preparation and restoration, sewer bypassing and spill prevention, rehabilitation and abandonment of existing sewer manholes and mains, installation of new 8-inch PVC sewer and water piping, connections to existing sewer and water systems, installation of fire hydrants/valves, and abandonment of existing water mains. Earthwork involves excavations up to 15 feet deep for utility lines, requiring proper shoring or sloping in accordance with OSHA requirements. The project requires adherence to Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction ("Greenbook") and City of Oceanside standards.
