General Project Description

This project involves the installation of an enclosed low-nitrogen oxide (NOx) flare station at the Santa Cruz Resource Recovery Facility. The flare will serve as a permanent backup landfill gas collection and destruction device for the existing Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE) Plant, complying with Monterey Bay Air Resources District (MBARD) regulations. The scope includes constructing an approximately 3,600 sq ft flare station to house the flare stack, air compressor, three blowers, a condensate management system, and an equipment control panel. The station will be built on concrete pads with access via an existing landfill road and will include a three-foot tall concrete retaining wall. Additional work involves unloading equipment, installing approximately 200 linear feet of landfill gas header pipe connecting to the LFGTE Plant, and installing pipelines for air and condensate management lines to the existing LFGTE infrastructure.
