General Project Description

This project involves the renovation of locker rooms at the Wooden Center on the UCLA Campus. The scope entails the selective demolition and removal of existing metal lockers, followed by the installation of new prefabricated modular phenolic lockers, including associated hardware and accessories. The work will be carried out in the Men's and Women's locker rooms, the gym area (Room 1245), the hallway (Hallway 1147), and two locations within the basketball court (Room 1136). The project also requires constructing temporary opaque plastic sheathing walls to separate the work area from occupied spaces. Related work includes rough carpentry, cold-formed and non-structural metal framing, gypsum board installation, joint sealants, and comprehensive interior and exterior painting services, covering surface preparation and finishing. Asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint were tested and found to be below action levels.

Specifications: Install interior steel studs and furring (ASTM C 955, C 645), framing systems for partition walls, soffits, and ceilings, including suspension systems and backing plates (16-gage steel plate minimum); utilize ASTM C 954 screws and AWS D1.1/D1.3 welding.

Specifications: Provide and install gypsum wallboard (non-fire-rated ASTM C 36, fire-rated ASTM C 36/E 119 5/8-inch, 1/2-inch water-resistant core sheathing), metal corner beads, trim, casings, joint reinforcing tape, compound, and laminating adhesive (ASTM C 475). Finish to specified levels (1, 3, 4, 5 smooth skim coat).

Scope includes acrylic latex caulk and two-component rubber-based sealants (Federal Spec TT-S-0027C Class A/B), backer rods (ASTM C 1330), and bond breaker tape.

Specifications: Prepare surfaces, prime, and apply finish coats to all exposed interior and exterior surfaces (galvanized steel, shop-coated metal, unprimed ferrous metal, aluminum, gypsum board, wood); comply with Green Seal Standard GS-11, GS-03, and SCAQMD Rule 1113 VOC limits.

Specifications: Furnish and install prefabricated modular phenolic lockers, including 316-grade stainless steel hinges, nylon grey interior hooks, 316-grade stainless steel exposed fasteners, metal door identification plates, ventilation, adjustable plastic mounting-leveling leg base with solid phenolic kick plate, slope tops, and Keyless1-SN-ADA locking system. Locker bodies to be 1/2" (13mm) thick solid phenolic composite, backs 1/4" (5mm) thick, sides 3/8" (8mm) thick.
